Sapper Danny Rawling

Died in Service, Australia, 24 May 2009

Sapper Danny Rawling died tragically in a motorcycle accident on 24 May 2009. He was aged 35.


On 6th July 2004, Danny enlisted in the Australian Army as an Emergency Responder.


After completing his basic training, Danny was posted to the Incident Response Regiment where he complete 12 months as a fire fighter before transferring to be a combat engineer.

In 2008 Danny deployed with his section on Operation Slipper.

During Danny’s service he was awarded the following honours, awards and medals:
 

  • Australian Service Medal with clasp CT/SRO,

  • NATO Non Article 5 Medal with clasp ISAF,

  • Australian Defence Medal, 

  • Afghanistan Campaign Medal,

  • Army Combat Badge.
